These marvelous and magical fishes are certainly among the most popular and loved fishes for home aquariums. Domesticated centuries ago, they have been alongside humans for a very long time and nowadays they are an extremely great option if you are planning to put up your own fish tank. But there is not only one type of Goldfish. On the contrary,
Goldfishes belong to the Cyprinidae family and most of them were originally found in regions such as China, Japan and other Southeast Asia. They were later introduced into Europe and spread all over the world. In the particular case of the gorgeous Goldfishes, they come from Japan even though they are now bred in lots of places. They take their names from the Japanese Ryukyu Islands where they were discovered. They are normally rather small fishes but can also reach truly impressive lengths and weights when adults.
Ryukin Goldfishes are hardy and resistant animals and their feeding should never be excessive since they tend to have digestive problems and can eventually die from over feeding.
The behavior of these fishes can vary depending on their companions, the environment and other facts so it is always a good idea to control them and provide them with the perfect ambience where to live so they don’t stress out or become aggressive.
Ryukin Goldfishes can be found in colors such as red, white, metallic or transparent colors as well as combinations of all of them.
