Fish Supplies
When we finally decide to start setting up our own aquarium we must face several important decisions that have to do with the quality of the materials, with the type of aquarium we wish to have, with the needed elements and obviously with the fishes we are trying to keep inside. All of these matters are relevant to the success of our own aquarium and we surely need to stop a minute and think about the possibilities according to our budget, our preferences and our interests.
Aquariums and fish tanks can be manufactured with different materials and of course glass is one of the most popular ones. You also have acrylic aquarium tanks and here is where it all starts since it is normal for beginners to wonder which material is best and why. In the case of glass there are several benefits to take into account. One of them is the fact that glass is more accessible than acrylic in terms of price and costs. But there are some other things as well.
Glass fish tank aquariums are more resistant to scratches and to the permanent contact with water, while acrylic may become dirtier and lose clarity, a detail that is very important if you take into account that aquariums are beautiful spectacles to admire. Since glass aquariums are held together with a resistant and flexible material, they can expand when you pour in the water unlike acrylic aquariums.
However, glass aquariums also have their complications. The first one is that they can get easily broken or damaged unlike acrylic aquariums which happen to be much more resistant. Plus, glass fish tanks are usually available in simple shapes and are not easily found in unique and original formats. Finally, glass aquariums are normally heavier than acrylic ones and if you are planning to put up a large fish tank the weight can be really high.
